What The Bible Says About Crime!

Every time you read the newspaper or log on to the Internet, there seems to be more and more outbreak of crime throughout the world. People are being killed left and right and it seems as though mankind is going to self destruct sooner or later. Funerals are at an all time high and it’s not the old that are dying, it’s young people. Senseless murders abound through the nation at large. Children are not only having children but they are killing them as well. And for what? To get a quick fix? I know your not paying a bill when these robbers knock over banks. Instead, greed, lust and the notion that “I’ll do whatever it takes to get the money that I deserve and if killing is what I have to do, oh well, I do just that.” Huh? Is that what we have come to? Is there hope for this nation? Will it ever get better? Why does it seem that the news and other media outlets choose to glorify crime and godlessness than to show good things. Its almost depressing aint it? Well lets turn to the scriptures and see what the Bible says about these things.

Matthew 24:7-12 is very clear when it says “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows! Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
WOW! Did we just read that. False prophets? Humph…there are plenty of those to go around today wont you say? People betraying one another? Humph! That happens on an hourly basis doesn’t it? I’d say so. So looks like there is no hope huh? WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! There is hope! Lets read one more verse that gives us all comfort and hope.

Matthew 24:13 says “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” Now THAT’S HOTTTT! So you mean to tell me Lord, that if I endure all this junk that is going on in “this age” I will be saved? The answer is YES my child, you WILL be saved (but that’s only if you endure). So I guess what we need to do as Christians is find out how we can endure all this misery and pain that is currently before us.

1. First, fix your eyes on Jesus. He is the author and the finisher of our faith, the pioneer and the perfecter of our faith; who, for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross. For the joy that was set before Him! Fix your eyes on Jesus, not on your surroundings, not on your circumstances, not on the person who has hurt you, not on the trouble you’ve had, not on the loss of money or the loss of esteem or the loss of a job or the loss of anything else that you didn’t want to lose. Fix your eyes on Jesus.

2. Refuse self-pity. Join the club of the faithful. “There is no temptation taken you but such as is common to man. But God is faithful and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond your ability to bear.” That’s what the Bible says. This is not new. There is nothing new about your sorrow. It is not unexpected to God. He permits it. He knew it was coming. He made provision for it a long time ago.

3. Third one which is mentioned in this passage: Endure hardship as discipline. Remember that God has marked out your course for you and He is not going to give to you any segment of the journey which will be harder than you can bear.

If you can follow these three simple rules, I promise you that YOU will receive the crown of life that Revelations 2:10 promises you (but remember that crown of life is only reserved for those that have obeyed Acts 2:38).

I hope and pray that this post was a blessing to you and I look forward to continually encouraging the body of Christ!
