International Congress Update: Friday Night Service

What a fellowship what a joy divine. My belly is full of food from Gladys Knights Chicken and Waffles, its 1:47AM Eastern Standard Time and I’m tired. But you know what, tonight in church I found out that there are some loyal readers who could not be at the Congress this year and are wanting a full report on how the service was. So, here I am, almost 2AM writing this post.

I thank and praise God for an organization such as the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ who allows God almighty to walk down the aisles of each and every row that was in that ballroom tonight. When you get people that really are in need of a blessing, the power of the Holy Ghost begins to distribute miracles, signs and wonders throughout the congregation. No one should leave the same way they came. That goes for every Saint and visitor. Truly God has been in the midst and for that I am grateful.

Praise and Worship was excellent. I’m glad the praise and worship teams each night have been mixing up their repertoire with old school and new school songs. This ensures everyone’s musical needs are met. As always, much props to the band (especially the fellas from Virginia and Florida). You can always count on them to play skillfully as the Lord leads. Alton Parks and Rapture was our guest choir and gave us one selection tonight. Actually, Alton is an old buddy of mine from Citadel of Hope. That was my singing and shouting buddy. I’m glad he finally has his own choir (I aint mad at you bruh……you got a gift…let God continue to use you). As always our Congress Choir was excellent tonight as well. You can always count on Minister M. Clark to have the best of the best singers leading us in worship. COOLJC really has a jewel.

Apostle Michael Rogers preached from Genesis 12:1-3 tonight (Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.) Saints, when I tell you this was an ontime Word. It was so on time I’ve already forgotten the title of the sermon. Hey, who cares what the title was, it was a Word that met the needs of the people of God tonight (and boy did we seal that Word with one ole great praise break). One thing I learned tonight is that I no longer need to pray to God for victory. Why? 1 Corinthians 15:57 declares “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” So now, thats one less prayer to petition heaven. You know, if we just look in the Word we will find the answers to most of a life’s situations. Why do I need to cry and beg God for victory (victory over flesh, sin, habits etc.) when He literally GIVES us the VICTORY without even asking. Even when I feel defeated, the victory that Christ gives can’t be taken back. (Now that will preach!). So Saints, shout now, you already have the victory. Truly, God has made all of us a great nation full of blessings. Oh yeah, I also learned that God has given me some things I might not have been able to get under normal circumstances. For instance, we are currently in a recession (now exiting the recession). The saints are able to purchase homes at lower prices than they ever have in history. The people of God needs are being met by astronomical leaps and bounds. It might be a recession for some, but for God’s chosen, we are prospering in the time of famine. What a blessing to know this.

I did not go to the midnight musical tonight but I’m sure you’ll dance until times get better. Thats a fact!

Well, its last call! If you have NOT gotten your dance and your run in (and God knows they ran in every direction tonight) then you need to meet us at the Hyatt Regency tomorrow. (I think I even saw a few people run right into the jumbo screens….Saints….run with your eyes open…AMEN??) We’ve saved the best dance for last. District Elder William Wilkins will be preaching tomorrow night. This will be his last sermon as President of the International Congress.

P.S. Trueway COOLJC, it was good to see you tonight. I saw Bishop and Mother but did not have a chance to speak. Atlanta West, I saw you too tonight. Hope you enjoyed the COOLJC experience (now you can put two and two together and see why I praise God the way I do…..aint nothing like a COOLJC praise break). Sister M. I saw you sitting at the booths selling your brand new book you just published. I promise to come and hug your neck tomorrow when I see you again. Elder R. Davis, your son danced so hard tonight, I promise you I thought the Rapture was taking place. I had no clue your son grew up to be such a praiser. I’M JEALOUS!!!!! (ha ha ha ha) You betta praise Him!

I am pooped and am going to bed now. Until tomorrow, be blessed!
