Apostolic Music: Laird Sillimon”The One God”

In keeping with yesterdays post, I found some great Apostolic Music by fellow UPCI brother Laird Sillimon out in Stockton, CA. Rejoice in knowing there is only One God!

  1. Brother Sillimon has brought an excellence of style to United Pentecostal music that didn’t exist before! The CLC Mass Choir out of Stockton, CA is one of my most fave choirs to listen to (My faves are the CLC Mass Choir, the Atlanta West Pentecostal Church Chorale, and the Woodlawn Sanctuary Choir – and of course anything by Norman Hutchings, but that doesn’t really ‘count’ for a UPCI artist since he is COGIC.) Of course, most folks will remember Brother Laird for the upbeat tune, “I’m A Pentecostal,” but there’s so many other spiritually deep songs the Lord has given our brother. “Genesis,” “He Shall,” “Searching” (Searching will get you to shouting!), “Ready For The Rapture,” and “The Lord Is My Shepherd And I Shall Not Want”.

When I was a “Young Person”, we were known at that time as the “Pentecostal Conquerors” – – there wasn’t a lot of choir music by UPCI artists available (in fact, not a lot of recorded music by ANY UPCI artist was too available). For choir numbers, we would buy “James Cleveland sings with the _____ _____ ____ Choir” albums and then improvise.

One of the things I’ve always prayed for and I’m thankful that I’ve seen in my lifetime is the United Pentecostal Church International come into it’s “own” as far as music for it’s choirs is concerned. Thank you, Brother Sillimon for listening to the Lord.

  2. Bro. Laird is a mighty, anointed man of God. I am happy to call him a friend. We met when he was in the Gaithersburg, MD area. BBlessed my Brother.
