Do You Believe?

Dear Friend,

A great question faces you as you read this. It is not Have you joined a church? or Do you have religion? or Are you doing your very best? The great question is Have you been born again?

You may ask yourself What makes this question so important? The answer is simply this: Jesus said, “Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3).

If you are to be truly saved, you must trust the Lord Jesus Christ and receive Him into your heart as Savior and Lord. This is what it means to be born again. The very moment you put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, He comes into your heart in the Person [do we want to say presence instead?] of the Holy Spirit, and eternal life begins.

Do not be misled into believing that the gift of the Holy Ghost was only for the apostles. God intended that all who believe in the Lord Jesus should receive that precious Gift. Hence, Peter said, “The promise is unto you and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call” (Acts 2:39).

There are many people trusting in good works. They often say, “I treat everybody right.” Friend, salvation does not come through works; it comes only through the matchless grace of God. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any many should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

There are still others who say that water baptism is not necessary. Yet, on the day of Pentecost, those who were convicted by the preaching of Peter asked, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Peter answered, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:38).

The sacred Scriptures attest to the essential need of water baptism, and we must believe the Scriptures because it is through them that the way of salvation is made known.

My friend, you may belong to a church, or be a church officer. You may be religious, or you may be active in church work and going the best you can. You may be striving to live right and attain a high moral standard. Yet, if you have not been born of the water and of the Spirit, you cannot enter into the kingdom of God (John 3:5).

Jesus Christ came to seek and to save. So it is in the Spirit of Christ that we extend to an invitation to visit the nearest Apostolic Church for Sunday morning worship services or a Mid-Week evening Bible class.

  1. thank you for preaching the truth about women and slavation i have enjoyed reading and very happy that the church at last is bring out the truth about the bible and the true jesus christ.i will like to know about the sabbith is it in a day or is the holy spirit that we got to rest in.i would like to know your answer. thank you.god bless you.

  2. The Sabbath is not a particular day but actually just time we as christians should set aside to rest from our wordly affairs and dedicate soley to God. So many argue whether it’s Saturday or Sunday and the reality is the Jewish people use a totally different calendar so based on our calendar it doesn’t really matter. God never meant for us to worship or be tied down to a specific day. He just wants A DAY of rest set aside for him. As a modern day society, Sunday was the global chosen day for this “day of rest” for a long time. All stores used to be closed, no liquor would be sold on that day. Pretty much people would take that day as a time to go to church and spend time with their families. Now…stores are open, liquor is sold and it’s rare you see whole families take time to attend church on Sundays anymore.

In the old testament, the Children of Israel were instructed to observe the Sabbath with detailed rituals that they actually continually practice today. But when Jesus came and gave us Salvation, those rituals were no longer needed.

    • The scriptures teach the Sabbath is a day. The scriptures also teach God was worshiped on every day, people prayed daily and tried to live right daily. The sabbath is a command for physical rest for people and animals from work, and Jesus is Lord of that day(as well as all days). The day is made for man to rest and should not be burdensome. The pharisee’s through tradition had perverted its function and our Lord corrected them(i.e. not allowing someone to be healed on the sabbath day),Jesus was not pleased with their false understanding of the day.Why as apostolics with the Holy Ghost we are taught against the day,I am not sure. Thanks,Mike

  3. Praise the Lord!

I give God thanks for this blog, always popping over to see what fresh content you have and enjoying sharing links to your page with my readers. I’ve started a little project on Facebook to try and get all the Jesus Name believers to join a fan page entitled: “I’ve been baptised in Jesus Name, just like the Bible said”. Would you be kind enough to help me get the word out about this group – maybe visit it yourself and give an honest review of it on your blog?

Here is a short link to the page http://bit.ly/JesusName

  4. if u say the sabbath is expedient so is the day expedient. for from on set the sabbath was instructed to be observed on the seventh day. All through ages from the old testament it had been on the seventh day. Nevertheless, i agree that the law had been fufilled and abolished by christ for us. Hence, if in the light of the New Testament covenant the day is not important then may i detail that point that work could still be done on sunday, stores could be open on sunday since ‘ let no man juge you of … the sabbaths…’ colo. 2 : 18 down.
judge no one for working on sunday on not going to church on sunday if only he maintains his fellowship with god and th brethren on any other day(s).
    thank u.

  6. Being born again includes: repentance, water baptism (immersion) in Jesus’ name for remission of sins, and Spirit baptism which is evidenced by speaking with other tongues.

  7. Oh give thanks for the goodness and truth of the word of God. People are hungering for the unadulterated word of God, not dressing it up, for souls are at stake. I enjoy your website. Please continue expounding the word that even the little children can understand it. The word will drawn the sinner man, give understanding tothe man that is confused, the man that is unsure of their salvation. I am blessed to be a member of an Apostolic, Jesus name, oneness church and believe in living holy, for the word tells us that “holiness without no man shall see the Lord”. God bless you with wisdom and knowledge as you continue to bless the readers.

  8. Praise the Matchless Name of our Lord Jesus Christ…This ministry is awesome and anointed and bold. Explaining that this is the only way to get to heaven and experience true salvation is thru Jesus Christ. Go and tell somebody the truth. I applaud you on this page and say God bless and I pray we will all know the that the most important thing, in these last and evil days is to draw as many people and teach them salvation and tell them the truth about heaven and hell because it is real. Some of us are more worried about honorariums and mega church than just preaching the word and seeing God’s People delivered..God bless u again and again…

  9. Good evening,

Will someone show me in the Bible where God the Father and the Holy Ghost are addressed as “Jesus”?

Also, do you believe that believers immediately go to heaven upon death or non-existence?

    Thanks?

  10. Dear Brother, its for you
The facts contained in this tract were derived from Scripture as well as church history. They are offered to the reader as proof that the apostles and the early Christian church baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ or some synonymous phrase such as the name of Jesus Christ, and not in the trine formula of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

The trine method of baptism is based on only one scripture – Matthew 28:19. But, this verse is a commandment, and not an example of actual baptism. We must go to the Book of Acts to discover how the apostles obeyed this commandment. Every example of baptism in the Book of Acts shows the use of the singular name – Jesus. Baptism in the name of Jesus is in complete obedience to Matthew 28:19, for we find that according to Scripture:

Jesus is the name of the Father (John 5:43)
Jesus is the name of the Son (Matthew 1:21)
Jesus is the name of the Holy Ghost (John 14:26)

    Page 4

Some, believing that disharmony exists between Matthew 28:19 and Acts 2:38, say they would rather trust the words of Jesus than Peter. However, we find in Acts 1:2 that Jesus, through the Holy Ghost, “had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen.” And in Matthew 16:19 we find that Jesus gave Peter “the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven.” On two separate occasions (Acts 2:28 and Acts 10:48) Peter commanded that the believers be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

BAPTISM IN THE NAME OF JESUS

Though it is possible to receive the Holy Ghost before being baptized in water it is important to obey the scriptural command to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. This means re-baptism if you have been baptized using the triune formula. (St. John 3:5; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Acts 8:36-38; Titus 3:5)

    • Jos,

I am going to investigate this further. I don’t think it helps the baptism issue very much though as “in the name of Jesus” as understood by apostolics is based on the doctrine of modalism. “In the name of Jesus” meant something entirely different to the Jews in the early church than what it means to apostolics today. Also, if it is absolutely necessary to be water baptized in order for your sins to be forgiven initially, then there should be no record of people receiving the Baptism of the Holy Ghost prior to what apostolic doctrine would define as conversion. If being baptized in water in Jesus name is what saves an individual, then that person would still be considered to be part of the world and an unbeliever up until such a baptism. The Bible clearly states that the gift of the Holy Ghost is for believers. How do you reconcile this descrepancy with your apostolic beliefs?

    • Jos,

I can readily respond to your statement that “Baptism in the name of Jesus is in complete obedience to Matthew 28:19, for we find that according to Scripture:” I will respond to your scriptures one by one.

Jesus is the name of the Father (John 5:43)
“I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.”

It appears that you interpret “in my Father’s name” to mean “my name is God the Father”. “In the name of” is a idiom that means “by the authority or power of”. Jesus was proclaiming that He came in the authority of his Father, not that He is the Father or that the Father could be called Jesus. This is evident in verse 37 of the same chapter: “And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.” Jesus’ statement simply can’t be true if He is the Father, for they were seeing His shape and hearing His voice throughout His ministry. The chapter alone forces one who is rightly dividing the word to acknowledge the necessity of the simultaneous existence of the Father and His Son Jesus. Furthermore, if you consistently apply the assertion that every time the phrase “in thy name” or “in the name of” means the individuals name is the same as whose name they are proclaiming, then every believer’s name would be Jesus:”And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;” Mark 16:17.

Jesus is the name of the Son (Matthew 1:21)
“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”

You are correct here. However, the 1st chapter of Matthew immediately opposes oneness doctrine as it mentions the entire God head in one chapter. The Gabriel is an angel sent by THE LORD (God the Father). Mary is found with child of THE HOLY GHOST (God the Holy Ghost). Jesus (God the Son) is the descendant of David. Just as the title “son of David” distinguishes Jesus from being the person David, “son of God” distinguishes Jesus from being God the Father. This chapter again proves simultaneous existence of three persons.

Jesus is the name of the Holy Ghost (John 14:26)

“But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

It seems you have done the same thing here in regards to “in my name”. Jesus can not be identifying Himself as the Holy Ghost in this passage of scripture if He is prophesying the future coming of the Holy Ghost. Jesus clearly states that the Holy Ghost is ANOTHER COMFORTER in verse 16 of the same chapter. I have found that when you examine the entire chapter of scriptures cited to prove that Jesus the Father etc, it becomes apparent the such is not the case. That is no different with this example. One scripture in this passage that really drives it home to me is the verse 23: “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” This is indeed a false statement if Jesus knew He was the only person in the Godhead. Why or how could Jesus say such things if apostolic oneness is the correct view? How would you begin to answer such a discrepancy?

What is boils down to is this: If he answerable objections you raise to the Trinity Doctrine are enough for you to refuse belief in it, how do you bring yourself to believe the Oneness Doctrine with its insurmountable problems? And if you have a feasible response for this, please post.

  12. Also, under the Trinitarian Godhead so often preached in todays various churches, we find a contradiction in the bible. Isaiah 9:6 reads “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” This scripture clearly speaks of Jesus. The Tinitarian Godhead preached in most churches today is defined as:
God as three divine persons : the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. The three persons are distinct yet coexist in unity, and are co-equal, co-eternal and consubstantial.
According to this false doctorine, the name Jesus can never be applied to God the Father, thus making Isaiah 9:6 a lie, thus making God’s word a lie. We know that God knows not sin, so there has to be another explanation. John 5:39: “Search the scripture; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”

    • Rick,

i am not sure that I understand your argument. I think you are saying that because the Trinity doctrine distinguishes God the Father from God the Son, then the term “The Everlasting Father” could never be applied to Jesus as it clearly is in Isaiah 9:6. I agree there is no contradiction in the Bible and that God cannot lie. So I agree with your closing statement that there must be another explanation. There is. “Everlasting Father” means “planner of the ages” or “Father of Eternity”. As creator, this title can aptly be applied to Jesus. The scripture is not calling Jesus “God the Father” as the Bible clearly distinguishes the Father to be someone other than Jesus and never calls Jesus the “God the Father.” Pitting one scripture (Isaiah 9:6) against a hundred that clearly state otherwise is a practice of poor Biblical Scholarship. You will be very hard pressed to prove the Trinity doctrine false, but I welcome your arguments. Perhaps you can answer my objections to the oneness teaching. What do you say?

  17. I agree with the Oneness principle which is JESUS ONLY JESUS EVER

  18. i’m a muslim converted to christianism and how can you take God apart to make three out of him , or to believe that there are three coexisting…? when you read Galatians 3:20 it tells you that God is ONE not THREE , saying there is ONE God tells you how many God there is , saying God is ONE tells you how many God is, doesn’t Ephesians 4:3 say to keep the unity (oneness) of the Spirit( notice ” S ” in CAP and in singular for the Spirit of God almighty), Eph4:4 says tere is one Spirit (S in CAP, the Spirit of JEHOVAH GOD or the Father), Jesus said that that Spirit is the only true GOD John17:3. So if you believe that Jesus is God not to mean that the indwelling of that same eternal Spirit you are in trouble, beside even the devils also believe in only One GOD and tremble James 2:19. So i know Jesus is the Father, i know Jesus is Son , iknow Jesus is the Holly Ghost and all these three are One( numerically) let me tell you who Jesus is and i fell i fell ALRIGHT!!!

  19. Keep Freddie in your daily prayers!!, the flesh is weak

  20. Praise the Lord,
so many churces point to the apostosies that the Council of Nicea brought into the world, without understanding all of the apostosies including their way of baptizing. If we totally understand the old testament scriptures and take out of them all the appearances of the Lord, taking Deut. 6:4 along with new testament scriptures, then we could come to the correct conclusion. One Lord, One Faith and One Baptism as you have so eloquently laid out.
One of the major old testament scritures I use is Exodus 24:9-11. You’d be suprised how many people in the church world, don’t even know about this scripture.
    9. Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel: 10. And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness. 11 nd upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.
They saw the God of Israel. Who is this person they saw? The same person who is God in the new testament scriptures. Jesus. When you take this scripture along with Isaiah telling us who would be called the everlasting Father and Emanuel, we should only be able to come up with one conclusion.
One of the major reason’s why I believe there is so much division between the churches is because so many refuse to use the basic approach told to us by God. When studying or reading His word, the first thing we must do is eliminate all preconceived thoughts and notions about the bible, fast and pray and ask the Lord to reveal His word. Then we become as babes and let the scriptures teach us, putting line opon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little. If we can do this, I truly believe God will open His word up to uus and get full understanding.
    God Bless All

  21. yes,i go to pentecostal church, been bap.in the name of JESUS,AND SPEAK IN TONGUES..HERE LATELY I HAVEnt BEEN TO CHURCH FOR 2 WEEKS ALMOST..there having movies ive seen before and they need bible study..inJESUS NAME PRAY FOR ME

  22. Stephen,

I continue to be at a loss for how anyone who objectively reads what the scriptures say about the person of God and His Son Jesus can conclude from those scriptures that Jesus is the Father. Most of the scriptures I have encountered that are cited by apostolics only prove the deity of Christ, with which Trinitarians agree. The main explanation advanced by the apostolics I have come into contact concerning scriptures that clearly distinguish the Father from the Son is quite outlandish and difficult to defend. It is namely that there is Jesus the man and then Jesus the Spirit. I am open to any arguments for your position, but you shouldn’t practice putting up a few scriptures against many others that don’t support your position. Your explanation of this passage is not without refute. Even if I were to acknowledge that this is Jesus, it would only prove His deity, not that He is the Father. St. John 1:1 should be enough to show that while Jesus is divine (the Word was God) that He is also another person distinct from the Father (the Word was with God.

Anytime you are ready, present your best arguments one by one, and I will show you what I am talking about.

    • I don’t argue over the scriptures, I try to make my point while you try to make yours. In the end everyone will find out who’s right and who’s wrong. I just pray we know. There are many scriptures in the old and new testament that tells us who God is. You just have to believe or reject it.
What we have to consider is what the scriptures say, Duet. 6-4 4. Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: There’s one Lord, One Spiirit. 1 Peter 1:11
Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

  23. i am so sorry Joseph that you couldn’t see that Jesus is the Father, and you are mistaking if you think that the Apostale John beleived in more than one God. John 12:36-41, John is letting us know that Jehovah that the prophet Isaiah saw in Isaiah 6:1-10 is Jesus. Furthermore if Jesus was not the Father, there is still noway that he can still be a second person in the trinity because the bible teach us that the Father Son and Holy Ghost continues to dwell in Jesus: ” In him[the son aka Jesus] dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodly” Col 2:9

  24. Karen anyone that backslide in a apostolic church had to first let go of being prayerful. you know, when God fill you with the Holy Ghost, he doesn’t take human out of you, so you still have to deal with your worse enemy which is your flesh by praying, and renewing the Holy Ghost day by day, i will pray for you but you too have to do your part.

  25. Amen Stepan, i agree with you that there is only One Spirit: Ephesians 4:3-4. And i am glad to inform you that that same spirit of YHWH aka Jehovah is the spirit of Christ whom we know now by the Holy Spirit Acts 20:28, Roman 8:9-10. The only deity the Lord himself claims is the Father, John 14:10 (God was not in a box, but the spirit of Jehovah dwells in him and also remain spirit outside of the body thus he is ti the Father and the Father in him John 14:11. like i said before if you believe in a truine God, Jesus was not only a part of the deity, he was the whole Godhead thus the Father: Colossians 2:9. since you also believe there only one spirit like i do, i pray that the Lord gives you this revelation he gave me which i explain like this: 1corinthians 10:9 says that the Jews temped Jesus and was destroyed by the serpents, please look at that event in Exodus17:2-5, Moses tells the Jews that they are tempting Jehovah and cried out to Jehovah aka Jesus for water. Jesus is the old testament Jehovah God incarnated. Finally Stephan don’t let Satan decieve you with his lies, the Son of God is his Humanity which died, and we all know that spirits don’t die. When Jesus died on the cross his flesh was crucified. Adam was also “son of God” Luke3:38, was he an angel or even a deity? no he was just a human created by God and so was the body of Christ. Please keep the simplicity of the gospel, don’t try to dissect God to make three out fo him. I apologize for my bad english, it’s the third language to. God bless!

  26. am a believer and i want to be God servant but what i come to realized is that many people are religious people rather than GOD people. i could remember the day when i surrender my life to Jesus my taught was that i’m gonna be ok, but all friend who does not gives they life to Christ are better than me now i need i bible study about this so that i can return not again

  27. My adivce to those who are wondering what the the truth is….Find a United Pentecostal or/oneness believing church. Attend at least 3 services and see for yourself! Pray for revelation. Those who are truly hungry, God will reveal the truth to. The Bible does say that we need to receive the infiling of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other toungs AND be baptised by immersion in water “in Jesus Name” NOT titles… We must do this to have True salvation.. Read the Bible and Pray.. Talk to other Apostolics and ask them about their experience.

    God bless

  28. Amber,

Personal experience should not be the standard for determining truth. There are those who would cite their experience when converting from Christianity to Islam. Would that make Islam the true religion, simply because an adherent cites a beneficial personal experience? Vice versa, is Christianity falsified because a believer becomes a heretic? If United Pentecostal refuse the truth of scripture concerning the Person of Christ, no amount of experience will make Oneness true. You must appeal to the authority of scripture and not personal experience alone. I admonish you to search the scriptures instead of basing your salvation on personal experiences.

  29. I read in the scriptures and where Jesus said “I and my father are ONE”. . .yes, I believe. . .and I come that you might have life. . .

Praise Him! Why dont you leave a comment. We would love to read your thoughts. Your opinion DOES matter in jesus Name who is God Almighty!
